TINTSWALO AT BOULDERS
Tintswalo at Boulders overlooks Boulders Beach and its famous penguin colony that is located within the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected area. The soft sandy beaches are clean and safe and are surrounded by granite boulders sheltering it from strong winds and the wild waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The villa boasts 180-degree ocean vistas from where guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of the playful African penguins on the beach below.
Spreading over three levels, each of the nine luxurious suites have generous en-suite bathrooms and some have private balconies.
The Boutique Villa operates on a bed and breakfast basis with lunch and dinner served on request, but can also be booked as a private, exclusive-use takeover. Children of all ages are welcome at Tintswalo Boulders. Early risers may enjoy the spectacular sunrise over the Indian Ocean, followed by a delicious Tintswalo signature breakfast, then relax at the pool overlooking the sea or take a stroll down the boardwalk to the beach. En-route to Cape Point, which is less than 20 minutes away, it‘s the perfect base to explore the Cape Peninsula and its many attractions.
BERLUDA GUEST FARM
Nestled in the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains on a typical Little Karoo farm, you will find Berluda Farmhouse and Cottages. Enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay with luxurious touches, personal service, and South African hospitality. The Schoeman family extend a warm and friendly welcome to their 9th generation home, where Piet and Laura continue the tradition of hospitality offered by Mother Rosie.
Individually decorated bedrooms offer air-conditioning, jacuzzi bath and tea tray. Self-catering cottages provide comfort and an option for nature lovers wanting more privacy. Each has a private braai as well as a jacuzzi bath. The swimming pool is perfect for that morning or afternoon dip and is complemented by the stunning surrounding views.
Enjoy one of Berluda’s famous ostrich farm tours (in German, Dutch or English) during which you’ll have a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the farming activities of a real working ostrich farm. A visit to the hatchery will be the cherry on top, while the curio shop offers quality ostrich leather products at very competitive prices. Exciting meerkat encounters are also available during which you’ll head out on an early morning drive to their burrows, and you’ll get to watch them go about their daily routine – it’s really an experience to remember. Other activities include sunset drives, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, and exploring the nearby attractions, such as the Cango Caves and various Oudtshoorn museums.
ROBBERG BEACH LODGE
The Robberg Beach Lodge is nestled at the heart of the world-famous Garden Route. Plettenberg Bay is a destination of distinction for all holiday guests and travellers in South Africa. It is world-renowned for the splendour of its sky and seascapes, and for the unspoilt beauty of its lagoons and beaches.
Just five minutes by car from the bustling restaurants, galleries, coffee shops and bars of Plettenberg Bay’s Main Street, The Robberg is a tranquil beachside haven. This understated, private retreat boasts 5-star luxury guesthouse accommodation with bed and breakfast facilities and is ideally situated at Robberg’s beautiful Blue Flag Beach.
The Robberg Beach Lodge offers 29 rooms in four luxurious adjacent villas at Robberg Beach in Plettenberg Bay. Together, Beachy Head Villa, Robberg House, Cottage Pie and Cordovan Villa offer a boutique accommodation experience right on the beach. Facilities include two outdoor pools, two lounges, two honesty bars, a rooftop viewing deck, 24-hr reception and check-in. All rooms have private en-suite bathrooms, and daily housekeeping service is included in the rates.
ELEPHANT HOUSE
The Elephant House is an exclusive thatched lodge set in the sun-drenched Sundays River valley, minutes away from the Addo Elephant Park. After a hot day in the bush, return for a refreshing dip in one of two pools, or retreat to one of the comfy couches on the deep verandahs. Luxurious, spacious bedrooms, stylishly decorated with Moorish, African and Colonial influences, open onto courtyards or verandahs. Sip a sundowner before a sumptuous candlelit dinner, prepared with flair and personal attention. Game drives in an open Landcruiser with the Elephant House ranger to Addo Elephant Park and into the Sundays River valley. Trips to Schotia Game Reserve can be arranged.
Elephant House itself is a converted colonial farmhouse with thatched roofs, courtyards, verdant gardens, secluded corners, and deep verandas. The covered outside areas, as well as the house, are furnished with comfortable sofas, Persian rugs, artwork and interesting old photos and maps, and every year since opening in 1998 the owners have added something new. The most substantial addition is The Stable Cottages, which are set in four acres of lush and are more contemporary in design.
The 11 spacious bedrooms open onto courtyards and private verandas. The luxury rooms all have a lovely main bedroom with en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. The rooms are set in established gardens. The Stable Cottages are situated across the road from the main house and only offer showers. All 5 cottages are equipped with a mini bar fridge and tea- and coffee-making facilities.
The chef serves light, poolside lunches and after sundowners, a memorable 3-course candlelit dinner is prepared with flair.
Children are welcome and babysitters are available on request. Children also have full use of the club room which has games, a TV with a DVD library, and a laptop computer.
The in-house field guide, an elephant expert with many years’ experience with the elephants of Addo conducts 2 game drives through the National Park in the open Land Cruiser daily. Both departing and ending at The Elephant House. Drinks and snacks are provided on the game drive.
